Chengdu

Chengdu, the capital city of China’s southwest Sichuan province, has a population of over fifteen million and while not quite the size of its Western counterparts, it’s still considered a major player in regards to financial, commercial, cultural and technological matters. Chengdu, a sub-provincial city, has direct jurisdiction over eleven districts including: Jinjiang, Hi-tech New Zone, Wuhou, Qingyang and Chenghua districts.

The city is also a substantial transport nucleus for the entire region, with most travelers in southwest China passing through it at some point on their journey.  The city contains three major railway stations with Chengdu Railway Station being the largest in southwest China. Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, the busiest civil airport in Central or Western China, is ranked in the nation’s top four busiest international airports. Currently four metro lines exist and serve the city’s public transit needs with more lines undergoing construction.
